Committee’s draft proposal

To increase the size of Uffington Parish Council from six to seven parish councillors.

Summary of responses to the draft proposal consultation

Uffington Parish Council put forward the request and has expressed its support for the committee’s recommendation.

Two further responses have been received during the consultation on the draft proposals – both in support of the proposed increase in the size of the parish council.

Recommendation

To increase the size of Uffington Parish Council from six to seven parish councillors.

Justification for the final recommendation

The National Association of Local Council (NALC) recommends that the minimum number of members of a parish council should be seven, and that this number should apply to all councils with an electorate up to 900.

In respect of Uffington Parish Council’s request, a council size of seven councillors is reasonable having an electorate of approximately 650.
